Call for Filmmakers at Symbiosis Film Fest’26
If you’re a student filmmaker looking for a platform to screen your story, this is the event you have been waiting for.
The Symbiosis Film Festival (SFF) 2026 is now accepting submissions for its third edition, taking place on 14 and 15 December 2026 at Symbiosis International University, Pune. Not just a film submission competition, the festival is also giving emerging voices a space to showcase their work, have discussions about filmmaking and connect with the wider community of students set to enter the industry.
SFF 2026 has two competition categories:
- Short Fiction: For this category, the film duration must be 20 minutes or less, with room for around 8-10 films to be shortlisted for awards among all the entries.
- Short Documentary: For the second category, the film duration is longer; 30 minutes or less, with a similar 8-10 final entries making the awards shortlist
SFF positions itself as a space for young filmmakers and screenwriters to meet industry professionals, find collaborators, exchange ideas and engage with conversations around filmmaking. This is the third year of the festival’s run at Symbiosis. Previous editions have featured films in multiple Indian languages and a mix of fiction and non-fiction storytelling.
So, if there’s a film sitting on your hard drive that you’re proud of, don’t let it stay there. The deadline for SFF 2026 submissions is 30 September 2026.
