Gear Up for the October of Campus Fests
October is the month of festivity. From the spirits of Halloween costumes to the bejeweled days of Navratri, the calendar enters its most loved phase. And colleges could never really be far behind, because the campus fest calendar also truly picks up speed in October.
Across colleges, fests bring together everything from inter-college sports and cultural competitions to live music, theatre, fashion, literature and the perfect late-night campus energy.
For those deciding which campuses deserve a spot on their October itinerary, CulSeq’s Top 50 College Fest list has five names to keep on the radar this month.
- Sangram, IIT Roorkee (October 2 to 4 )
October starts off with IIT Roorkee’s annual inter-college sports fest, running from October 2 to 4, 2026. This year’s edition spans 30 sports, from athletics, cricket and football to swimming, squash, chess and e-sports. What puts Sangram on the Top 50 list is its sheer sporting breadth and the perfect representation of traditional university sports coexisting with newer gaming formats.
- Kaleidoscope, Sophia College Mumbai (October 3 to 4)
Sophia College for Women, Mumbai returns this October with its very own Kaleidoscope. This inter-collegiate festival has been running for decades, opening its doors to students from other colleges since 1985. It makes CulSeq’s Top 50 because of its combination of legacy and student-led culture.
- Thomso, IIT Roorkee (October 9 to 11)
Just a week after Sangram, IIT Roorkee gets ready for another takeover. Thomso is one of North India’s largest college cultural festivals, with 1,00,000+ students and visitors from 500+ colleges expected across three days. The fest includes events across dance, music, theatre, fashion, fine arts, film, photography, literature, quizzing, gaming, business events and more. There are also three Pronite concerts, making the event a large-scale entertainment experience too.
- Waves, BITS Pilani Goa (October 23 to 26)
October brings in another high note with Waves, the annual cultural festival of BITS Pilani’s Goa campus. Waves is a festival that has grown from a small-scale event into a nationally recognised college fest, with previous editions featuring artists like Shankar Mahadevan, Salim-Sulaiman and Vishal-Shekhar. Rather than relying on a single headline attraction, the fest has built a strong identity around various genres and sub-cultures of music. The 2025 edition, for instance, brought together more than 8,000 participants from 150+ colleges and featured over 40 events.
- Antaragni, IIT Kanpur (October 29 to November 1)
At IIT Kanpur, Antaragni returns for its 61st edition in October. The festival dates back to the 1960s and has developed into one of India’s major student cultural platforms. Its 2026 programme is divided across seven spaces, covering performing arts, literature, media, visual arts, fashion and an after-dark zone. This year also brings a new component: Antaragni is selecting performers through rap battles, beatboxing, bands, rock, and DJing across 15+ cities, with winners heading to the IIT Kanpur finale.
Clearly, October offers a particularly diverse stretch for the Indian college fest calendar. That too, with curated events that bring together scale, student participation, competitive platforms, cultural programming and a campus experience worth travelling for. So, where will you head off this October?
