IIT Roorkee’s Thomso, running since 1982, takes its name from Sir James Thomason, whose 1853 college became the University of Roorkee. Vogue fashion, Xhileration Pro-Nights (Farhan Akhtar, 2017) and the Hindi Kavi-Sammelan ‘Thahake’ headline a 40,000-strong ground.

Named after Sir James Thomason, Lt Governor 1843-53, founder of Thomason College of Civil Engineering (1853) → University of Roorkee (1948) → IIT Roorkee (2001). Officially the ‘Annual Youth Festival of Uttarakhand’.
