This Wilson College band performance at Malhar feels like someone plugged an aux cable directly into 2016.
The second the medley starts, you already know what kind of ride this is going to be. One Bollywood hit after another, zero breathing space, and nostalgia-maxxing.
Somehow, despite jumping across songs every two minutes, the band makes the transition the hero of the performance. Because with medleys, there’s always the risk of an awkward transition causing the whole thing to sound like a Spotify playlist on shuffle. But these guys actually make it flow.
And we NEED to talk about Purusharth Jain for a second.
Lead vocals AND guitar, and somehow still managing to look completely locked in throughout the performance. There’s this effortless energy he brings that keeps pulling your attention back to the stage. Some singers perform songs. Some singers make the crowd feel like they’re inside the song. He definitely falls into the second category.
And then came that original composition.
In the middle of all the familiar Bollywood tracks, they suddenly hit the audience with something completely their own, and somehow THAT became the standout moment of the set. Risky move honestly, because college crowds usually just want songs they can scream along to. But the second that section kicked in, the energy shifted instantly.
Also, shoutout to the drummer because he’s holding this entire thing together like rent is due tomorrow.
It’s chaotic, nostalgic, loud, slightly filmy, and completely Malhar-coded.
