Indian Metal’s Most Fearless Voices Are Back
After more than a decade since their debut album How Are You? We Are Fine, Thank You, The Down Troddence return with As You All Know This Is How It Is (AYAKTIHIS), a record that feels heavier, sharper and far more expansive in sound. Known for blending metalcore with Kerala folk influences, the Kochi-based band once again pushes boundaries through massive riffs, layered arrangements and socially charged songwriting.
The album brings together powerful collaborations and bold experimentation, including tracks like Maharani featuring acclaimed Carnatic vocalist T. M. Krishna. From aggressive breakdowns to haunting melodic passages, the production feels cinematic and deeply rooted in Indian textures while still carrying the intensity of modern progressive metal. Lyrically, the band tackles caste, inequality, identity and resistance with the same raw honesty that made them cult favourites in the Indian independent music scene.
With AYAKTIHIS, The Down Troddence are not simply making a comeback. They are proving why they remain one of the most distinctive and politically fearless voices in Indian metal today.
